Fisher HD 8Ft. vs 7.6 SD

I've been plowing for over 25 years. I have used only two plows. - a MM1 8ft HD on a 1989 K2500 GMC and a MM2 8 ft HD which I have on my current 2002 F350 7.3Diesel 8 ft. bed truck. This plow has quite a bit of rust. My neighbor is moving and wants to sell me a 2013 MM2 SD 7.6 with a poly cutting blade in excellent shape. I have never used any plow smaller than a 8ft HD. A fisher dealer told me that the attack angle (75 degrees) on the SD is too steep for my taller truck (I do three gravel drives) AND the 7.6 wide plow is not wide enough to clear snow from my front tires when I plow a curved driveway or radius.. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

This is to go on your F350? If the only issue with your 8' is some rust, sand it and paint it. The 7.6 SD will be a massive step down in weight, strength, durability, and scraping ability. Oh yeah, and you'll be running over snow all the time as you were told

I initially put a 7.5’ MVP on my 2006 F350 because I was moving ip from a 1999 Expedition that I had a 7.5’ Snoway on. Figured thst the width worked fine with the Expedition, so it would fine with the F350 (which was also my daily driver at the time, so I wanted to keep it as small as possible).

Was a mistake. Width was just too narrow. Ended up trading the 7.5’ MVP blade for an 8.5’ MVP. Much better.

For what it’s worth, I also have wings on my 8.5’ MVP. That wasn’t an option on the 7.5’ blade , which I guess is common because I assume the added weight of the wings/extra snow might be too much for the smaller plow frame.

Thanks for all the input. The odd thing is that when I go on Fisher's sizing chart and plug in a 2002 F350 7.3 diesel with standard cab and 8ft bed the recommended plow is a SD 7.6". I can't believe it - maybe because of the extra weight of the diesel? I have never seen a 350 Diesel with a 7.6" plow. Go figure.

I use to run a 7.5' SD on a Toyota Tundra and now I run an 8' HD on my current Tundra. You will hate the 7.5'. The 8' is so much better especially in turns.
