Newer lift chain doesn't have the cable/spring setup. They use the spring with an add a link, like a carabiner. How is the tension to be set. When plow is on ground should the spring be tight enough to keep chain snug?Didn't want to stretch it out to far just playing around! Also, what about the chain on passenger side? Its so close to the pump cover it looks like it will banging against it while plowing ? Thanks

Just got our xls back last week and can tell you ours has at least a link or two slack when the plow is on the ground. Our chain nose (triangle piece where the chain connects to the lift ram) doesn't go down past half way leaving about 4-5" of the ram exposed, dealer said thats normal and with break in it will go all the way down.

Spring only needs to pull lift triangle down a couple of inches when lowering plow on a level surface. The purpose is so that you do not need to push triangle down to remove plow from truck, it has no other purpose.
