1" predicted for last night. Sitting at the bar with another PS member, we are joking about it snowing out & how each other is going to have to plow, not thinking we would actually have to.
All of a sudden around 11pm it started sticking & coming down pretty good. We all quit drinking right then. Good thing as we had to plow 5-6".
Now thay say 1-2" today but up to 3-5",
Tonight, 1-2" but up to 3-6"...

    I dont get it....
When thay predict 2-5" every day for the past couple weeks & nothing, we get this outta no where?
Come on now, how much more pathetic can thay get?

Isn't lake effect wonderful. One area can be hammered and just a little ways away it's a beautiful day

If you'd stayed home glued to the TV like you were supposed to and not gone to the bar it wouldn't have snowed. How can you expect those poor weather guys to get it right when you behave that way??

Lake effect is some weird stuff. The local forecasters just can't get it right. They forecasted less than an inch for yesterday afternoon and we got 6". They forecasted 3-6" last night and we received nothing. They have today right. 3-6" and we almost have it. 3-6 tonight too. I better go set the alarm.

    WNY forecast unreliable...

    Got Grass --

If you remember back in mid-November, I joined PS and solicited some info on plow purchase options for my 1st season.

I got a very late start, and took only 1 commercial contract ( 80 uni apt. complex w/3 lots in Cheektowaga).

Did I miss something, or were we not supposed to get 3-6 overnight last night???

Getting ready to go out again here shortly, as from where I sit (14031), looks like we have another 3-4 since 2 pm.

We really need to get WIVB, WKBW, WGRZ on the same page -- so we can better plan our time / efforts!

    Good luck...

For us the weathermen predict snow and we get nothing, and then they predict nothing and we still get nothing. At least some people benefit from their weathermen!!

MonsterPlow, Brining up the "do you carry a flask" thread.
I did the math 2 drinks before 11pm Started plowing at 3:30 my BAC would have been below .0072, Less than if I had used some mouthwash before I went out.

Firesource, I heard thay changed the 11pm from the 10pm forcast, both 844-4444 & 852-2669 must not have.
Of cource the one night I decide go to out it snows... Just figures, Normally I'm scared to go anywhere that I cant see outside durring the day (movies, etc...). We always sit by the windows "just in case", good thing too...

The new forcast for tonight is 1-6", now if that dosnt say they really don't have a clue I dunno what does.

Have any of you guys ever tried www.accuweather.com? I've had real good luck with it. They have live (well 15 minutes behind) radar with different magnification levels. It's an American site but goes far enough into southern Ontario to be of great help to us in the "great white north". There's also a doppler radar site outta Buffalo.
I've gotten to be quite the meteoroligist, I seem to be more accurate than most of the radio/tv stations. Although it is tough with the lake effect where it can move a couple of degrees east/west and the parameter of the event is completely changed.

    I hear ya brother!

Tell me this doesn't suck....After losing my ass at Casino Niagara last night I was looking forward to sleeping in this morning and I get home to see 6" of snow at 3:30 in the morning! I was looking under my seat for quarters for a Tim Horton's coffee to keep my sanity. (Did I mention I was up for 21 Hours prior to that?)

They did it again 1-2" last nite with another 1-2" today. Got anywhere from 5-10" depending on the area.
I hate snow and i'm starting to run out of places to put it.

They have been saying snow for almost every day for the last month. At the last minute, they change to no snow for the day.
But, rest of the week always calls for snow.

We have not recieved an inch if you stack all the snow flakes on end.

Duno when you got your forcast but when I got mine sat. thay said 1-3" overnight & 2-5 durring the day. They were right for once.

True about starting to run outta places. With the crazy temp. changes the piles are rock solid & really hard to move.

Talking about Channel 4's weather report, Sunday morning Chris "I'm-Really-Not-A-Weatherman" Daniels say that the flurries will end before Noon. Hey, no big deal, right?

Then, we get lake-effect OFF OF LAKE ONTARIO all day... really hard here in Elma. Had to plow my drive twice. County plows running up and down our North-South road every ½ hour or so dumping bigtime into the end of the driveway ever time.

Then, old Marybeth "Lantern-Jaw" Wroble comes on the Channel 4 weather at 6:00 and says we set a 24-hour snowfall record. But, she doesn't say what type of record. For that date? For the month of January? What was the record? Don't tell us we set a record and not tell us what the hail you're talking about.

Am I the only person in Buffalo who thinks Channel 4's weather is just plain bad? They don't give details, so that means they're less wrong more often (no, I'm not sure I understand what I just said, either).

They use terms they never define. I mean, just where are the "Southtowns?" And "Ski Country," what's that? I'm Polish, and I'm wondering if it has to do where there's a heavy Polish population. With Channel 4, that might be what they mean, for all we know.

Anyone else in Buffalo think the same things about Channel 4's weather? They keep telling us they're better than everyone else because they are all meteorologists. For all I know, that means they study meteors!

I apologize if I'm ranting here, but I keep hearing others at work say the same things I do and I wonder why nothing changes for the better at Channel 4.
