My new GMC 1500 came with 20" chrome rims and street tires. I have a chance to pick up a set of 17" rims very cheap. They are brand new, but they are the steel rims used as spares on new GM trucks.

Can you use a 'spare' tire rim as a full time rim for the winter? They are 17 x 7.5, and can accept a 265x70x17 size tire.

i'm pretty sure it is fine because they actually say to rotate ur spare when you rotate your tires so they all wear even. especialy if it is a fullsize rim and you put decent tires on you should be good to go.
