Will a unimount from 2000 2500 fit 2002 2500HD?

Discussion in 'Chevy Trucks' started by mr_udy, Oct 1, 2006.

  1. Got a line to buy a nicely maintained Unimount w/ back-blade from a friends 2000 silverado 2500 for less than $1500 for my 2002 2500HD.
I know my HD has a taller frame section han the non-HD 2500 to provide clearance for the Allison Trans that was introduced in 2001. From what I can see, the unimount mounted on the 2500 looks like it will bolt right up to my HD frame (the look the same where the plow frame would bolt). Anyone know for sure that its the same part number?
I always thought the 2500 was a 1500 frame w/ heavier axles and springs where the 2500HD used essentially a 3500 frame. However, I have heard that the unimount frame for the 1500 is different from the 2500. Anyone provide reliable info? Thanks.
I already looked at Western site...I see the "2500 and 3500" models use a different frame from "1500" models. BUT...it doesnt distinguish 2500/2500HD.
