How many of you guys that are running the Whelen mini edge strobe light bars have the optional take downs and alley lights??? Are they worth the extra money?
Thank you,

the only thing takedown lights are usefull on the mini bars are if you use them as rear facing cargo lights .. alley lights .. yes good for what there using them for ... if you run a full size truck forget the alley lights .. cant get enough light to shine out like they should .. ...

buddy in the fd runs a mini edge witn takedowns and alleys. He uses his takedowns as rear work lights (so does his brother on his edge bar) but his mini edge alleys are pretty much worthless unless your looking for dents on the roof.

The alleys are good at night looking for house numbers

I just installed a 48" Edge on my Dodge, I love the strobes and flashers, but the take downs seem to shine back so far that they would almost make better headlights. On the state trucks around here, that's how they are used. I might take the bar apart and flip them around to face front.

The alleys do seem to help light up the side area of the truck, house numbers are much easier to see.

This is about the best $150 that I've spent in a while.

thanks for the help guys..I am trying to spec out a mini edge but dont know if I am going to add the alley lights, take downs for the rear will work nice but still unsure about the alleys.. what is a good place to buy? I talked to a guy at sirennet.com and he said at times these bars are only around $350+options, now it is at $410+options so I may wait...
Thanks guys,

Its a popular light bar so many places carry them.

LSH lights

You might want to check state regulations on the takedowns and alley lights. From what I could tell - and they don't make it easy to tell! - they're illegal here in PA unless it's a police vehicle; maybe a fire vehicle or an ambulance, but they can't be used for other purposes.
