What is Float used for?

Yet another "newbie" question. Why would I use the float feature on my Boss V plow? I know it is used for taking the plow on and off - but beyond that. I know the manual states for uneven surfaces - what would that be defined as. Nothing I push is an even surface.

I almost always let my Boss V float. The thing is so heavy that there is never an issue of it not cleaning well. The only time I don't float it is if I am trying to clean a dirt driveway that is all sloppy from a warm period. I end up digging in and plowing mud otherwise.

Float helps to keep with the contour of the surface being cleared.
If you didn't use float, if you came over an incline, the plow would remain fixed and go in the air instead of keeping contact.
