I purchased a used western unimount and the mount will not fit. The guy that sold it to me misled me into believing it would fit and then moved to NM before I realized the error and now I'm stuck with it. I was going to try and find the proper mount for my vehicle but have had a difficult time finding one. The mount I have is off a Ford and was wondering if it would be possible to fit it to the Chev? It looks like I will have to cut the front uprights down 6' to achieve the 9.5-10.5 ground clearance and figure out how to mount it to the front of the frame then make some supports for the thrust arms?? I also need to get a different wire harness or find a way to use the one it came with. Throwing the thing away is not an option so any help or suggestions other than that would be great.

The Unimount mounts between a Ford and Chevy are completely different but if you have the resources to make it work you certainly could to that...

As you've found out finding a Uni style mount can be very hard for a Chevy... but I did see one for sale on ebay just today...Here's the listing..

(I realize the item is for pick up only but many guys are happy to work out a deal)

If you know exactly what Ford mount you have now, it wouldn't be too hard to find a buyer for it if you purchased the correct mount for your truck. Lot's of guys still looking for Ford Unimount mounts out there...

I have pretty much fabbed most of my plows onto the trucks I have had over the years. When I bought my last unimount, I bought all the mounts the guy had with it.

I have a brand new unimount and wiring harness for the chevy trucks. I think it fits 88-99 2500/3500, it looks the same as the one on westerns website. Tomorrow I will check for part numbers on it. The only thing I do not have that you would need are two small c-shaped brackets (item #'s 8 and 10 on the parts diagram on westerns website) I used those for fabbing up the plow on another truck. Other than that this mount is complete and unadultarated, whats it worth to you? I haven't completely decided if I want to sell it or not, I always like having options for future mounting needs. If the price was right, I would sell it. Don't forget I had the wiring too.

The wiring harness is universal, you only need to get the proper headlight harness, or cut your exisitng truck wires and "fab" your own. Its not that hard to do.
