    re: Boss 8.2 Poly V

I called around to a bunch of places, got the cheapest/most knowledgeable guy, went and checked the place out.
Of course I get there, get the prices, and its $1000 more than on the phone, but I check out the plow, he said its a late leftover from '06, it has the 'curb feelers' and theres no rubber hoof in the middle, anything else that would be on an '07 thats not on this? Should I search for someone with an '07?
Another thing, he said the SmartLocks were $250, but wasn't sure if that was each, or both.

Out the door, we're lookin $5819, or $6086 if the SL's are 250/EA. imo, way too much for a plow, im going to have to keep shopping around.

It does seem like an awesome plow though.

They are nice plows. As I have one, but keep shopping. I think that is a little pricey.
can't say as to the difference in 06/07 models, but I bought mine new in 03 installed, for 4750 OTD.

Thats a good deal, and I appreciate it, but I think it would cost me $400 in gas to get there and back.
Do dealers normally charge exact MSRP for the plows and accessories, or is this guy really trying to make money? All the prices he quoted me were msrp.

I think that price is definitely high, but also take into consideration youre looking at buying a plow in peak season. If you were shopping around last spring or even summer i guarantee they wouldve cut you a nice price.

Yeah, I forgot about that, but I just got home from visiting another place, $5180+tax, installed with locks 'n deflector.
Think im going back monday to pick it up. They just became a dealer this year I guess, and they happen to be the closest, they werent listed before on the Boss site. Nice guys.

Thats a fair price, my boss dealer is selling for the same price. Tell me what you charge foe wings installed. My dealer says they are time consuming in drilling the holes making the cost for every thing around 750.00

My boss dealer includes all that, poly bd, smt lock, defl. for the 52-54 price. He is in s. penn, phone # is 1-888-vee-plow / J.W. Flemming might be woth the drive and spend the night in a cheap motel. Pm me if your interested or i can help make arrangements. This guy even cuts his price for people to travel to him. Im a hour away and he cut his price 2 years a go when i bought mine because of the distance to his shop.

BOSS's MSRPs are extremely high. I can't imagine any dealer being able to sell at them unless they had no competition within a 2 hour drive. Being in NY, I can't believe that that is the case. If we priced our plows at the MSRP we would never sell any.

Jan of 05' I puchased a 9'2" Boss Poly Vee with smartlocks and handheld controller for $5100 installed. I paid cash to save on the $400+ sales tax. Then last fall I added the snow deflector and the new Boss cutting edges (curb guards/ remove center puck) at around another $400.

Not sure where your at in NY, but if your within a couple hours and want to make a trip this way I can call my dealer for you.

    Called my dealer anyway.

    Here's my pricing:

Boss 8'2" with smartlocks and deflector, handheld controller.., without the new style edges though.

    Poly- $5,329
    Steel- $5,129

Add 8.75% sales tax unless your paying cash.
SUBTRACT $300 off above pricing for no installation. ($200 for plow, $100 for deflector.)
    Has very limited supply left.

Also this is my pricing, as I do alot of work for them. If you were to call expect about a $250 increase.

    plow pricing

Cash, check or credit card makes no difference as far as the law is concerned. If a dealer offers a deal for cash to save on tax, just think how they might try to screw you just the same as they are screwing the tax man. Just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing. The only way I've heard of getting around sales tax on a piece of equipment is if the dealer delivers it across the state line. You would have to pay for delivery, though.

I was paying cash for my plow, and I definitly tried to get out of the sales tax, the dealer wasn't having it though. Oh well, guess its better to play it safe.

The dealer wasn't offering a cash deal, I was. There's no screwing when you use a tax ID #. You still get a receipt and full warranty. Jeff, I should of pm'ed you so the pros didn't pick the post apart sorry.
