Hi, I'm glad to find this web site. A lots info helpful.
I just bough 84 F250 HD w/plow for my driveway. Seller gave me extra Alt 160 Amp, I want to replace the old one but there is only one bolt (BAT)in the back of Alt. What I suppose to do?
Put new cable from alt (BAT) to Pos. Battery and tape off all the old wiring?
    Thanks for your input.

You should only have one wire on the old alt. also, just swap the two out. I have one wire that goes down to the starter and from there goes to the pos. side of the battery. There is only one lug on the alternator. If it's a real old style he gave you, it may also have a ground lug on it. Post a picture and I can tell you exactly how to wire that baby. :D
