I am looking at changing the fluid in my 89 blazer, it calls for dexron II .. Will dexron VI work?

If so, can I siphon out as much of the old fluid, fill it with the VI without any problems?

Yes you can use higher number Dextrons, in old transmissions. No problems

Yep Dexron VI is just fine... in fact GM recommends the VI for ALL current and previous GM transmissions EXCEPT the '05 an older Allisons... They still need Dexron III...

You really should drop the pan and change the filter or clean the screen if it has one. It will gets a lot of the crude out so it's not circulating around with the new fluid.Put a new pan gasket on too.
