trans bypass ? on 7.3 w/ 170K miles

    This is an 2000 f 250 w/ 7.3 diesel.

    Hvaing the exact same problems as a buddy of mine described on his years ago.. weak in reverse and something else.. generally weak I think. He told me he went online and found a discussion forum that he had to put some kind of bypass hose on it or something.. I forget exactly what he did, but it fixed the problem, which appeared to be fairly common.

    He's not answering his email...

    Any thoughts?

    the bypass is a metal tube that connects on the passenger side of the trans, where the trans cooler lines thread into
