I need to know how to top off fluid in my cable operated Western. The pump leaks around the lifting shaft, I think the seal is going. The shaft needs to be changed too, theres pitting on the metal. Is that a hard job? changing the shaft and seal? If so I will do it myself. Still need to know how to add fluid

if your standing in front of the pump, on the top of the case, on the left side next to the motor there is a pipe plug. add fluid there. its full when the level is even with the bottom of that hole. replacing the shaft is not a hard job. did you try and tighten the packing nut?

No not yet, I don't have a wrench big enough. I thought the pitting at the top might have something to do with it. Before I change the shaft, yes I will tighten the nut.
