    is it required for a subcontractor to carry additional insurance for snow plowing, other than the normal truck insurance?

    Yes. General Liability. Some General Contractor's will want you to have them named as "additional insured". (Although "required" may not be quite accurate.)

    vehicle not insured as commercial

    my truck is not registered as commercial nor insured commercialy. Will the ins co give my morew ins?

    typically $1 million in liability is required. make sure your insurance company knows that you will plow commercially. In the event you make a claim you don't want any nasty surprises.

    just check with your company you are subcontracting to but I would expect he'll want proof of insurance.
