Just a questions for all you out their who sub out some of your plowing.
1. What are your basic requirements for hiring subs?
2. Do you require they wear safety vests and have strobe lights on their vehicles?
3. What about Pay; What percent do they make per hour of your hourly charge?

subs need to provide proof of insurance, provide us with necessary paperwork for taxes, workers comp. etc.

some of the subs, as well as our company equipment has warning lights as it is specified by the client in their contract. same holds true for ppe (personal protective equipment), while plowing not much, but if working on a breakdown, outside the truck or skidsteer, could include safety glasses, a vest, and steel tipped shoes.

Sub rates vary based on type of equipment. We don't have a set percentage. Sub rates and client rates vary across the board for a whole bunch of reasons.

Good Response!

I guess what i'm looking mainly at is hiring individuals with trucks and charge 80/hr and pay them 55-70 depending on experience and setup (sander/salter).
I'm trying to build a reputation on quality and safety and it doesn't cost a whole lot to insure the vehicles and people i would hire.

I guess I'm just playing around with other's ideas for next season.
