I have a snapper snowblower model LE 3170E. One day when starting the knot slipped and pulled the cord back into the recoil. I took the recoil off, rewound the spring and retied the knot. Now when you pull the recoil sometimes the cord pulls all the way out and will not recoil. Could the spring be overwound or not wound enough? Not enough cord? Possibly a lubrication issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When I repaired my recoil, it was a trial and error situation. I ended up redoing the recoil 3 or 4 times before I got it right.

I ending up finding out that I had overwound the recoil spring. I backed it off 2 complete turns off the spool and it works fine now.
