I noticed the other day I had quite a bit of rust in the chute of my snowblower. I am going to sand and paint it before this winter but my concern is how long the "snow shroud" will last at this rate.
It's a new Ariens and I have about 9 accounts, mostly gravel driveways.

    "mostly gravel driveways"

as long as they are gravel they will wear the chute out

someone on here uses a 2 stage Ariens to pile rock salt in his bunker/bin but dosent get too much use out of it

How many hours per week do you use it?

After you get a good hard-pack, the gravel shouldn't be a factor. If it thaws then you have to worry about it again. Lower your shoes to raise the scraping edge and you won't pickup as much gravel, when you don't have a good hard-pack.

It should last a long time.
