Snow Dragon Announces NEW snowmelter model SND580

SND580 – The First Dual Purpose Parking Garage Melter

Snow Dragon Announces the SND580, the first snowmelter that is manufactured to date that can be used on the top deck of a parking garage. Today is another milestone in the snow removal industry and we are proud to be a part of it! We are excited to introduce the SND580 which defies the challenges that once existed for parking structures and their snow removal. The purpose of the SND580 design is to allow a snowmelter in the marketplace that can be used for standard snowmelting applications such as shopping plazas and parking lots as well as have the ability to be used on the top deck of structures.

Parking structures currently have considerable challenges when snowstorms hit and snow has to be removed off the top deck. Prior to the evolution of the SND580, there currently was not a mobile snowmelter that had the size and weight ability to be operated on these structures. Today that challenge has been met. Using our existing snowmelting technology and with keeping equipment cost in mind, this new model will allow end users to minimize their snow removal expenses while lowering their capital equipment investment. The SND580 dual axle snowmelter weighs approx 10,000 pounds filled with fuel and water and only 6,500 pounds empty allowing it to be towed by a properly sized Ford 150 or a Dodge Ram 1500 or higher. Measuring, 16’ in length, 6’3” in width, and only 6’2” high at its highest point, the melt rating on this 5.8 million snowmelter is 18 tons/hr (75 – 175 cubic yards) allowing it to be used on standard melting applications as well.

Fuel usage is the biggest expense with all snowmelters. The SND580 will burn 30 - 40 US gallons of diesel fuel in one hour. Assuming 35 gallons per hour at $4.00 a gallon and you have an hourly fuel cost of $140.00.

Water is also needed. This model required 330 gallons of water to be in the hopper prior to operating. The good news is that you can fill the melter with water at your location and drive it down the road/hwy so when you arrive at your melting site your all ready to go. Yuo can fill it with a garden hose and depending on the size will take you 15-30minutes. Otherwise water trucks work great too, but will come with a cost.

Your fuel and water are your fixed operating costs. You can figure your loader is the same guy who can operate it.
