Are there any disadvantages to running a wide snow blower on a smaller skid steer? Local Cat dealer has a used 79" ES2000 (Erskine) blower that is a good match to the hydraulics on a smaller skid steer (Cat 226B w/ high flow) and is in good shape. The width of the skid steer is 60". I kind of like the idea of having a wide blower because I can stay farther away from the ditches.

i dont see why not, with a blower your not trying to push through the snow like a plow, so i think it would be fine.

as long as you have the GPM and PSI to power the blower you shouldnt have a problem. check the weight of the blower to make sure its not to heavy for your skid steer.
