Boy we are happen to get a little snow payup .But -10 you can keep that for the boys up north a little farther.Okay, ran everything yesterday no problems.Loaded one truck up last night with salt for my am saltings.Spreader started fine{actual temp was 1 at 4am} hit the spreader button and nothing.Spinner was spinning but chain was'nt moving{sander is only 1 year old}I guess chain foze,so had to go back and get an empty truck load and then go.? is what tricks do u guys use to prevent that from happening{trucks stay outside/sanders are covered/we use straight salt no sand}.Any words of wisdom

Better check the gearbox, couplings and any shear pins if you have them. Usually if the chain won't move, neither will the spinner.

Weve had our share of those mornings. Weve built custom exhaust heated sanders, broke shafts, shoveled froven stuff for hours, ran warm water over it , etc. Bottom line we don't fill the boxes until were ready to use them. We have however had the best luck with a sand salt mix. It will stay loose longer than salt or sand alone.
