    Sorry, i've never used the sand / salt formula guys, i've always used just regular road salt.. when you guys say sand, what type of sand are we talking here? fine sand, coarse sand then mixded with road salt??

    Coarse sand mixed with rock salt. The percentage of each will depend on the results you're wanting. I used a 90/10 mix (sand to salt) since I was just wanting the salt to keep the sand from freezing/clumping.

    I have been running 1 50lb bag of ice melt mixed with 1 70lb bag of tube sand. I am running it through a Westen 1000 tailgate sander.
