there is nothing under the chain as of now...however the spreader has the rubber flapper that knocks the salt off the top side of the chain as it exits the chute.

Just finally put it together. Used it last snow 5-8 plowed like no other. Was worried about 2 wd not a problem. Plowed x10 better than the 2500. Never been happier with this rig. Just adding new nighthawk lights to the unimount and prowings. Hopefully the weather comes are way. Good luck.
