I am looking at a 10' IS skidsteer model with the quick connect and wondering if it can be converted to be used on a Cat 416 E backhoe. What is the difference between the backhoe and skidsteer model? The 10' skidsteer model has a 40" moldboard and the sideplates are 40"x52" , the exact same measurements as the backhoe model. The only difference I can see is the weight difference 1100lbs compared to 1500lbs. Any opinions or info is greatly appreciated!

A skidsteer model can be adapted to a backhoe model with the addition of the four posts. There are some other design aspects needed to avoid interference from the cutting edge of the bucket with the quick coupler. Binder plates also need to be installed to have a location to attach chains. The chassis of the skidsteer model is very different from the backhoe model as it uses different sized channels on the back. The lower edge is also thicker.

If you are using a large backhoe we wouldn't recommend running a skidsteer unit. However, if it is a lighter backhoe, a skidsteer unit can be modified. If you'd like to speak with someone about a custom job like this please give us a call.
