Buying a pristine 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the off-road package and am now looking at used plows. This is just for my driveway. As I understand, just about any 7.5 foot would be okay. I have a couple questions:
    1. would plow mounts for Dodge 2500's also fit my truck?
    2. should I apply some kind of rust-proofing to the under-carriage of the truck?
    3. Should I beef up the suspension?

    Thank you.:mechanic

I have been plowing with a Dodge 1500 for many years. I have been using a Western 7.5' with no problems. I believe the 2001 were the last year Dodge used a solid axle on the 1500 which is a real plus IMO. I got a Western plow frame off a 2001 Dodge 2500 and it mounted right up on my 1500. I try to wash off the undercarriage as best I can at the car wash after a storm. I do mostly driveways.
