Two scenarios for you.
My liitle town hires a contractor to plow with the 3 town trucks. Its a six wheel, 7 yard body with spreader and 10-11' plow. IE viking, everest, frink or the like.
The town supplies fuel, edges and sand/salt.
they pay about 100 per hour and you are out with the first flake. But you have your own route, and you will be the only one who plows it. No garuntee of hours and 5 mil liability.
Same truck for the state of conn. Same ins. You buy edges, fuel and food. They only supply the material to spread. They gaurntee 40 hrs, and pay 125 an hour after the 40. In the last 5 yrs no one has gone over the 40. they call you in only if a big storm is predicted and cut you lose as soon as possible.
So in the case of this truck, you would be better off plowing for the small town then the state.
Also if you are plowing city streets, forget the rubber and get a urethane edge. Easier on the truck then steel. Will last longer than steel or rubber and costs less then rubber.
Dino
----------
Professional Ice and Snow Management
Products:Services:Equipment www.sima.org
