Even though its only 3 wires and regular old headlights……I can't get them to work. There is a red, white and a black on the headlight plug…..anyone know which should be high, low and ground?

    Need to test light them.
Depending upon who wired and make, white or black could be gnd

Take bulb out, and get yourself some test leads, with clips if possible. If not, you can prob make some with female spade connectors that fit on the bulb.

In general, a bulb is one of the only things you can't blow up by shorting - when you short, you get light! So start connecting and you should figure it out in a few steps. If you put POS/NEG across the HI/LO poles you won't get a light. So the other pole in that case would be your ground (or damn bulb is burned out). Once you find the ground, the other two are HI/LO and you should be able to figure that out easy enough.

Now that the bulb works, and you know what connections are GND/HI/LO, just look at the connector and trace the wires from the connector to figure out what color is which. Clearly, the black ought to be your ground and is probably the one in the middle.
