I have a western HTS 7.6 plow. It's been a good plow but now it's acting up and I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe a ground? So the plow turns on and off intermittently. When it turns on once I press the brake pedal or turn the lights on I loose complete power to the plow. No lights or controller. Any ideas?

Powers and grounds first. Take them all apart clean and grease. Same for the truck.
To me it sounds like a bad ground causing the flow of electricity to move in ways it shouldn’t. Start there. If you have a buddy with a similar western hook your plow to his truck and eliminate the plow side from the equation as the culprit if everything works well.

The plug at the grill is the week point. There are two large pins that are full time 12V + and - If they are loose it will cut in and out. The two small pins are the multiplex communication wires. Clean the plugs and apply dielectric grease. Try getting someone to operate the plow up and down while you twist the plugs a bit but don’t let them angle or you’ll get squished!
If the plow stops AND the plow lights switch back to the truck check the other plug. That one is for lights and headlight module. On the plow side two of the pins loop in and right out. So when you plug in the plow it’s like shorting out two pins, similar to a switch closing. When those two pins connect via the plow side of the plug it switches your lights to plow and enables the controller. So if the lights go back to the truck and the controller backlight goes off your problem may be in the light plug. Same deal, clean both sides and put some new dilectric grease on them. Look for signs of corrosion or missing / damaged pins.
