There is a service bulletin out on the pick up tubes, sorry cant remember the number but i belive it is on westerns site under publications. Just had 2 of them today and had to put in new tubes and hope they stay in because we didnt have the new retainer kits yet. Some of the fischers will be having this problem also and is under a service bulletin also.

SNOW........Crash is correct.........The early model Western
uni and ultras had problems with the tube slipping off.
The later models used a different clamp...........

Call Western direct for bulletin #.

Simple fix anyway...Just pull off your pump motor and
fix it yourself with a new worm gear clamp.
Check the screen filter for crud while your at it.
You can see it plain as day................

I have had no problems with mine...knock on wood !

Do a search here at PS..There was a big thread about it
    with pics too.....................geo

    Service Bulletin

    Snowpusher04 It's Service Bulletin SP-749.
It's not a new bulletin either, released April 15, 2002.
It covers the pick up tube and filter, and is a no charge repair to you.
    John......................

If you need a quick fix, we use a very small hose clamp to keep them from falling off

    Goodluck, plowtech:waving:

    Western Pickup tube

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Western has just faxed me a service bulletin [ (SP-769) December 30, 2003] and it looks like there is a retainer clip that will bolt on using an existing bolt from the pump body. Looks like a simple fix and should be a covered labor and part item too. Thanks again.
