Bought a old western plow off of a buddy for 100 bucks, needs a new motor and a control box, its rusty, plan on cleaning it up. I know its a cable system but how exactly do these things work. The plow will be going on a 1994 Chevy 3500 4WD 6.5 Turbo Diesel, does the bumper need to come off to mount this thing?

Thanks for the help in advance

i have a cable western on my 88 gmc 1 ton. works ok nothing like the new plows but they are cheap. i put mine on the outside of the bumper but if you are not good at metal fabing you will have to remove the bumper. my plow was off a old ford so i had to make a new sub frame anyway
