This is a crazy oil leak, and it's got me stumped, I have a 1985 cj7 258 in-line 6 , I know the leak is not coming from the top of the motor I replaced the gasket, But here's the problem, motor does not leak at all when it's running for 10 min. or a hour, and after you shut it off wait about 10 mins, and the leak starts, it looks like its coming from the pan, or rear main seal, cant tell if its coming from the pan due to a skid plate that is mounted to it. it leaks about a shot size over a period of time 12 hrs or so. any suggestions ?

Sounds like you're just gonna have to clean the engine up and remove anything in the way. Once the engine is clean its easy to locate leaks.
