somone just brought this to my attention in this thread. " 07 Classic 1500 meet my needs? "

said they only made 1500hd in extended cab. so i did a search and tried to build one on the chevy site. none exist in regular cab and i didnt even see any in the new model lineup in extended cab. the classic lineup only had 1500hd in crewcab with lt1 package and didnt offer a wt package. goes from 1500 to 2500hd i think on the build site. anyone know what is going on here with the chevy lineup because i dont see any 1500 hd.
perhaps they still have them just arent labeling them hd and i have to check sticker gvwr's?? whats the deal?
because i was thinking i might want to buy another one at some point and think im being pushed into a 2500hd wether i want to be, or want to spend the extra dough or not.

maybe thats why i keep seeing people spending thirty k on a 2500hd. chevy wah . wah.

not sure if gm thought about it but between a 1500 and a 2500hd leaves a big gap and not everyone is going to want to take that leap.

No 1500HD regular cabs in the classic body style and no 1500HD's period in the new body style. Apparently GM didn't sell enough of them to be worth their trouble. Currently your only choices would be a 1500, a 2500HD and of course the 3500's.

My local dealer didn't even carry the 1500HD line as they are so close to the 2500HD. They felt if you wanted the 1500hd, just buy the 2500hd and have a real truck.

    1500HD vs 2500HD

Will let me say that I have lurked for a while, but thought I would jump in here.

I have a 2002 2500LD that is the extended cab model of the 1500HD. They just labeled differently. My drivetrain is identical to a 2500HD just a slight lower GVCW then the HD. So no more 1500HD or 2500LD, just back to 3 levels the 1500, HDs and big daddy 3500s. But what chevy did was to put the 6.0L in the Max package for the new 1500 and the towing capacity is on par with the retired 1500HDs.

how about the rest of the max package?.
is the max package a rebadged 1500hd? or is just the towing capacity the same as you said.

Be carefull of the new 1500 Power Max Package. If you NEED that??? The Power Max package on the NBS 07 has the 6.0 and all the extra coolers and stuff with 4:10 gears. A lot of dealers are ordering the 1500 with the 6.0 but opting for 3:73 gears. That is a lighter rear axle and drops the towing capacity a bunch!!!!! All of the 1500 with 6.0 have Power Max on the door not Silverado, but that alone does not make the Power Max Package. I researched all of this when they first came out and could not find a true Power Max Package!!! So I bought the 2500HD OBS and love. Glad I did.
