While moving a piece of equipment today we were stopped for not having a diesel emissions inspection. The truck is a International LPX (old chemlawn version) with a dump stake. We have the truck registered at 17,995lbs to obviously avoid the diesel emissions inspection. The International sticker has no GVW info on it. The body company sticker lists the trucks GVW at 21,200. It has always been my understanding that the owner can register a truck at a lower GVW. Any info and link to an "OFFICIAL" listing of this info would be greatly appreciated. And...we did receive the ticket.....

Hope you had your Class A CDL too. Just go get the inspection. It doesnt matter who says what, the fact of the matter is, you were wrong in the officers eyes. Go get it inspected before they nab you every week.

    Per Nj Dmv,
You Have To Register The Truck For What The Door Tag And Title Says Or More Not Less....you Can Not Lower The Gvw...only A Registered Truck Builder Can Alter A Gvw Tag.

Thanks....we were told to get it inspected and call the town court and plead our case that we did not know about the registration requirements. According to the friendly officer they will dismiss the ticket.

go to the local inspection facility go see the superviser and ask for the form showing that diesel over 10k gets self inspection

I work for the inspection facility in monmouth county not sure about the cut off weight but over 10k is self inp

    good luck
