This is a dumb question. But here goes
When the light for "Float" comes on for my Meyers Plow
    What is that?

To add to the good info on the "float" function, the light is there as a reminder so you don't leave it switched on for a long period of time - for example, overnight after you drop the blade when parking the truck - and drain the battery.

My Monarch control box has the same thing, with a note under the light saying "Down Switch: Do not leave on when engine is off".

the float is so the blade can ride up and down
    with the drive
    otherwise with out that
If you started out on a high spot the plow would
be high on the low spots
    On the western
the controls turn off after so many min. being un used
