HELP!! My 83 chevy k10 (4 speed manual tranmission with low gear) is acting up! It barely started when I went to plow this blizzard, maybe because its cold or is it the clutch? It was running very very rough at first and I had to give it some gas to make it idle more smoothly. Also, the gears will barely shift and I have to take my foot off the clutch several times in order to shift, especially into low gear and reverse...sometimes the position of the truck on the ground, better on level ground, helps a bit. Is the clutch going?? Should I call someone to finish the storm or is this just an impending sign, not immediate? THANKS!

Does the shifting improve when the truck warms up? When you push the clutch in does the engine slow down (rpm)? Is the clutch hard or to easy to push in or is it just the shifting of the gears that is hard?

It might be The Clutch Pressure PLate, it has 4 springs, once one goes they all go, it could be a day , a week or a year before all the springs go,, have it looked at when you get some time.. and let me know how it comes out..BCSFD279@yahoo.com....hope this helped Ryan

the shifting of the actual shift rod is impossible sometimes....literally. It will not engage in gear until i tinker with the clutch and position of the truck for a bit or keep trying to shift into gear several times. For example, it will not shift into reverse until I shift into first and then i try to go into reverse. The rpms do not go down when the clutch is engaged and it does not improve when the truck is warmed up really. The clutch does seem a bit less stiff when I depress it. Thanks for everything and any more ideas would be greately appreciated.
