Late at night, sniffing around the internet- I came across this :

This is the most amazing, simple concept I have ever seen as a way to navigate deep snow, ice, or drifts.

You have to to see this one - from 1924 !!

Seen that on another forum awhile ago, makes you wonder why something like that didnt catch on in remote areas that get alot of snow?

I bet that tractor would be great in Mud too. I wonder why it never went anywhere? Looks like it could really hall a large load (sled with all the logs) If those pontoons were large enought would it be able to float?

You could make those pontoons out of some kind of puncture resistant material or foam!

They made a remote control kids toy out of it. More futuristic version but same 'wheels' and movement.

Towing the logs is what got me. That thing got up and went with all that weight on it.

Has to be one of the first Skid Steer designs out there.

I wonder what would happen if that guy fell off the tractor on to one of the drive cylinders:cry:. Cant be too safe without an enclosed compartment.

What would happen if you fell off of your snowmobile and it ran over you? Or your farm tracktor? Or your quad?

Who cares? It looks like a great vehicle and a great time.

That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen! They'd be great in remote snowy areas!

Leave it to the Russians to steal our ideas.

That looks like it would be a ton of fun to operate!

But with that more modern one, if it gets stuck, Id have to think that it could REALLY get stuck!
