    Does anyone out there charge a mobilization fee? We do not, but a client requested us to perform service at another one of their properties when the contracted provider was a no show. By the time we got to the site, about an hour later, the contracted provider was onsite. The customer stated whatever our mobilization fee was, just bill it. Any thoughts, who does, who doesn't,etc.

    Yup I do usually one hour of per hour rate of machine. In your case that’s not going to cover it

    We charge T & M rates which have different minimums depending on type of equipment

    We have a minimum charge of 1 hour for something like that. Have experienced that in Toronto in years past - client is too impatient and calls around for another operator to plow the lot as his guy is not there "in time", only to have his guy show up and plow just before the other guy (us) shows up and feels he shouldn't have to pay us as we "didn't do any work".

    Charge them half or 50% of the rate for the job.

    I would charge them a per vehicle show up fee, in relation top the time you had in it per vehicle, and man hours.

    $ 499

    Edit cash no tax.

  9. I don't show it on the invoice or bid but yes, a long with a fuel surcharge. It's not uncommon to show it though, I just choose not too.

    I would do a minimum for equipment and manpower as well, especially since he offered to pay it.

    I got sick of working for nothing, so we charge a fee for salting if they aren't on the regular schedule. Even if we're still out.

    Back in the union days, we got 4 hours show up pay if for any reason we were there and couldn't work. The beer tasted so much better on those rare occasions.

    I guess we will have to rethink our approach. Thanks for the feedback.

    What were you planning on charging if you did the work like originally requested?
