Busted a plow spring last night,so I am going to replace the pair.Going to take broken one off and tighten up new one until eyebolt end is level with other springs eyebolt to keep even tension on both springs, then take off other spring and repeat steps. My question is how do you know when spring tension is right? too tight ,won't trip ,not tight enough trips all the time. any suggestions?

Tighten them just until the coils start to separate.

I tighten them until a business card will slide between the coils with a bit of resistance.
