There are two ports in the bottom my lift cylinder. One has the hose and the other has a drain, similar to what you would find on a radiator. Do I really need the drain and does it matter which port the hose goes into?

It means you must have bought an aftermarket cylinder. Some of the aftermarket cylinders are drilled in two different locations so they can be used with multiple plows (often Fisher and Diamond.) It doesn't matter which port you use; just use whichever will keep the elbow fitting from interfering with the frame and plug the other one.

O.K. Thanks, this was a used set up I bought a few years ago.
