Is this a decent price for bagged salt?

I'm in SE Michigan, and I need some salt. (Dont we all?)

My supplier that I usually get one pallet at a time from is out. They will deliver 18 pallets of 80lb bags @ 5.40/bag plus 100 delivery, but they wont be able to do that for weeks, and I need it soon.

I found a guy that has a lot of salt, and he'll deliver 16 pallets at just over 6.50/bag. I know this is more expensive, but he has it, that's the key. Is this too much of a rip off, or is that pretty fair?

Are you going to make any money putting it down at that cost?

If you need it and he is your only option, do you have a choice?

Thats not that bad for bagged assuming the second option was 80 pounders as well. I pay just under 8 cents a pound, you'd be paying just over 8.

yes, the second option was also 80-lb bags.

I'm spreading one job (25 bags) for 9.60/bag (subbed out and they charged the customer for bulk) and one for about 12/bag. I'll still be making money.

joesprayer, thanks for the contact. I'll call him in the morning.

I just bought 5 skids yesterday in IL. for $6.67/ #80 bags
30 bags per skid. It was cheaper than saf t salt that was 4.97 / #50 bags.

Yikes. Now the cheapest I can find is about 7.10 per 80lb delivered. that's $0.091/lb. No one else has any, and they said when they get it, they wont ship out a large load. Gr. This sucks..
