Thanks for posting, I heard something was happening in regards to this.
Lets hope this becomes law sooner than later.

Devils advocate...There are alot of false claims but there also alot of legitimate ones. Decent people do fall and hurt themselves, and some of the most decent procastinate hoping they can weather it. 30 days would be more reasonable... I really dont think the problem lies in legislation but it is a good start. The problem lies in insurance companies handling the way they respond to claims. Taking things to court cost big money, settling is the easy way out. Most lawyers dont even want to go to court, its easier money to sit down and hash out a deal between the 2 lawyers. Its how real estate is done as well with real estate agents. Separate the 2 parties and control the deal. The problem lies in how these cases are fought and settled, not in the timeframe.

Devil's advocate...why is it anyone but their own fault for slipping and falling? It's winter, snow and ice are slippery. It happens every year. Has since time began. Contractors and business owners do their best to work through it, but we can't control the weather and we aren't perfect.

Why is it if someone gets in a "crash" during the winter, damage their car and injure themselves, they receive a ticket. Why is government exempt from providing 100% safe roads all the time?

Because it isn't possible. And every idiot would sue them.

Why are parking lots and sidewalks different than roads?

Cause you cant sue the city, and everyone wants money for doing nothing. And since they all know about slip and falls, they are gunna try to get there piece

I feel it should not be actionable unless there is negligence. You cant go outside during an ice storm, slip and fall, and still expect anyone but yourself is responsible. Its Canada, its winter.. messy conditions aren't a surprise.

Why is anything anybody elses fault. Why do we have workers comp. You didnt see that rusty nail? Youre at work, now you cant work and thats the downfall to living on the street.
Thats what insurance is for...thats why we pay it. It should not be our fault that the insurance companies mismanage our excessive premiums and cant see the fault of the way they do settlements.
You invite someone you are liable, they hire you to maintain the lot liability transfers to you. It becomes how much each persons insurance is on the hook for..
