All the gauges on my dash do not work, unless I press the lock/unlock buttons on either side of the truck. AS soon as I let go of the button they all quit working again.....any ideas???

Sounds to me like a nasty (and frustrating) electrical problem. How old is the truck? Is it possible that a wire has corroded or worn? I don't have any experience with instrument panels, so I can't be a big help. Does everything else work ok? Time to start the process of elimination. Hanes manuals have all of the electrical schematics in them so you might want to pick up one of those.

It sounds like the power locks are backfeeding through the gauge circuits.

Some more details on the truck would be helpful.
