how much salt would be needed to salt 1.7 miles of roadway after a plowing? The roads are about 30-40 ft. wide. Any help is appreciated

    Welcome to plow site,

So your road is 1.7 miles ( 8976 Feet)
At 35 feet (across) you have 314,160 sq feet.
    314,160 is 7.2 acres

T-Man says 800 lbs per acre

So a rough guess would be 5760 lbs (hope you are not using bags :p )

But this will really depend on:

On a sunny day you could use half this amount, yet on a cold dark night you better pile it on.
