how much ballast

    i'm new to plowing and i was wondering form your past experiance how much ballast i need; 1998 z71 1/2ton 350 auto shortbed with a 7'meyer with e-60
    any help is apreciated

    for my 7.5 western pro I with my GMC 1500 I used to put between 400-500 pounds.

    yeah 500lbs right on the rear axel should be fine

    400 pounds of sand in the light stuff.
    600 pounds in the heavy and deep snow or later in the season
    or slightly different depending on truck and plow.
    me: gmc 1500 with a 7 1/2 pro plow

    I'd go for 500 or so behind the rear axel
