Can anyone comment on whether or not SIMA has truly hepled you get, sell, advertise your business? & in what way? I guess I feel most customers probably don't know or care..but still interested in hearing from real life members ( I am not a member)
Thanks,
Steve
Here's just one reason why I advocate for people to join SIMA:
A couple years ago when I became a member an ambulance company needed someone to plow their shop in my town. They searched online for contractors in my area and they found me using SIMA's Member Search function.
I made enough off of that account IN ONE MONTH to pay my membership fees for a few years. I obviously can't guarantee that you'll be as lucky but it's well worth the risk IMO.
I think basic memberships only cost $195/year but you'll get $50 off if you're referred by a current member so for around $150 you have access to one of the best resources available to our industry.
Thanks for the response...tell if if I understand the site info..i would have to buy the study modules for about 500.00 (being a non-member)? is that right? Assume I need them to test?

Thanks a second time...I would want to "boast" that we are CSP certified..maybe it would help maybe not. How do you take the test? Do you go somewhere or at home, online ect?
Steve
PS If your not CSP can you still use their brochures for advertising?
PPS Basically i just went online and found who around me is CSP and I'm pissed they are and I am not..have to keep up with the jones you know

SIMA has really been beneficial in countless ways. Not just from a marketing / utilizing SIMAs logo and being a CSP (which I am, but you do not have to be as stated earlier).
The biggest benefit I have seen is from the symposiums each year. Imagine going and hearing from industry professionals / leaders who are willing to discuss business practices openly because you are most likely not in the same service area.
SIMA changed my business life. The snack and chats and seminars put on durning the symposium are top notch. I will be a speaker next year in Minneapolis.
Hope this helps! The cost is insignificant if you look at the true value.
Say hi to Heather for me and tell her Steve Koep from Fargo referred you
Honestly, when I joined I thought it would be so I could use it in advertising to clients. But after being in a couple yrs the reason I renew is because of the knowledgeable and professional friends I've met through SIMA. It's those relationships that are invaluable. I often call up SIMA friends for advice when I need it.
