Get a Ram.
You can offset a little surplus with properly placed ballast. Else: airbags.

What year is the truck? Unless it is under warranty, I wouldn't worry about the weight. As Phil said, the 8.5 will leave you running over snow which will be a much bigger issue for you than the 80lb weight difference
2000 I have 8.6 straight blade now. Have added a leaf spring to the front

At full scoop, you are only going to cover 7' 2" with the 8.5
If you are not comfortable with going with too heavy a plow, get a 9' straight blade

It will be fine.
I have a 9.6 on an IFS gm... it handles it fine so I am confident that your solid axle Ford will be more than able to handle it.

OP, I've been running a 1100 lb blade for years off a 250 or 350 SRW truck. Your 2000 should have a Dana 60 (believe srw and 250 had a Dana 50). Either are good axles. Chances are ur factory springs are a little tired after 20 years.

Well I have the MVP3 8.5 for my f350 dually, works very well, if you haven't replaced the front springs your more than likely going too if they are orginal.
They tell me 8 1/2 truck does not track .....not true
