Here is a photo of my first plow truck in 1973. It's a brand new 1973 GMC 3/4 ton 4X4 and a 7 1/2' Meyer's plow. Truck was $4800 brand new, and the plow was $895.00. Those were the "Good Ole Days"

awesome - i love seeing pics from back in the day. you still have the truck??Thumbs Up

looks like one of the amber marker lenses fell off the plow light. the lights back then weren't isulated from shock like they are today.

i'd gladly take a "new" '73 GMC over most anything available today.

That's funny, that's the same year my dad bought his first 3/4 ton for plowing, instead of Jeeps. Except he had an IH. All the other contractors thought he was nuts.

What controls and pump did you have? Power steering for the plow pump? Valve manifold on the hump in the center?

My brother started in '73 with a Powerwagon which I bought from him in '77 when it bought another Powerwagon.
    Got to love simple trucks.

The first truck I plowed in was a 78 gmc the same as that witha Meyers off the steering pump with toggles.
I can still see it on my route today sitting behind a shack with the blade still on it. I keep thinking I'll approach the guy and restore it. Man the heater in that would cook you out trying to keep the engine cool, plowing with both windows open...

    Sweet picture.

Fun fact: That $4,800 equals $24,833.45 in todays money.

Currently I have a 85 K-5 and a new GM crate motor on the way for $1500.00, a couple hours to switch and it's good to go. Try doing that to a newer truck.

Totally awesome. I wish I would have kept my 1983 K10 and restored it.
