Have a downeaster v-box. It has a single 1/2hp motor. It will not budge when full. I have tried with and without the inverted vee. No difference. I thought maybe the rusty drag chain is causing too much drag. My mechanic and long time plower suggested taking the motor off and cleaning it out, replace the brushes. It's always been an issue, but its worse now. I have to manually rotate the spinner backwards for a few min to get it going. After a couple rounds of doing this, it will usually throw the rest of the salt out fine. The feed gate setting doesn't make a difference either. Any suggestions?

Sounds like it's time for a new motor.
