Electric brake console

I have a 2003 2500HD with the 6.0 engine. I am in the process of installing a electric brake console and was told that it is very easy since all of the newer models that are equipped with the towing package come with a harness that connects to the brake console and a pre-wired outlet under the dash. I have searched my truck and have not found the "harness" that was supposed to come with the truck. Is there such a miracle harness that was supposed to have been shipped with the truck? And if so, is there a part number that I can give to my dealer and get one?

Also, is hooking up the brake console easy, and is there anything I need to look out for?

I also sent an email to the dealer and this is what they had to say about the harness...."Nice to hear from you and thanks for asking (I'm fine and all's well...hope that's true on your end, as well). After a little research, here's the answer to your question about the Towing Package wiring harness:

A harness came with '02 trucks and is also included with '04's. However, the factory de-contented 2003 models and made the harness an after-sale item. One of our turck specialists told me that the cost is approximately $25 at the parts counter. Sorry.

While you can use a harness that was purchased for any 2003 truck, you will cause damage/grief if you use one from any other model year vehicle."

    Wow, that explains a lot.

I thought I was really, really stoopid (as apposed to just plain stoopid) when I couldn't find the harness/connection my cousin insisted was there.

Anyone have a part number so I can double-check the work of the mouth-breathing-know-it-all at the parts counter of my local Chevy dealer?

A local parts store with a comprehensive stock of trailering equipment (including brake controls) should have a harness that will plug in undeer the dash and be a direct plug in to the controller.
