I just bought an 06 2500HD and have been shopping around for 8' straight blades when I came across a dealer here locally that offered me a 7'6" V-plow for $4,900 installed. I am curious to know if anyone out there uses the smaller V and what your thoughts are on it. I am sold on buying a V now but I don't think I can afford to upgrade to the 8'2" right now. Should I hold out and save some cash for next season or jump on this 2010 left over. I currently plow my own driveway and 6 other driveways so at this point it wouldn't be for commercial but I hope to expand in the future. Thanks for any info.

Personally my self a 7'6'' V for a 1/2 ton would be great, even tho its still the same foot print as a 3/4 ton, I know once in the V or scoop position its about or under the width of your tires.

Now for a 3/4 ton I would deffently wait till you have the money for a 8'2'' because once you buy a new Boss V it will last you for many many years.

My .02 cents is wait, save and buy 8'2''

7'6" with wings would do the job...

Go with the 8'2, I have one on my 2500HD and wish it was a bit wider.

I use a 7'6" V on my 2500 works well for driveways some times it can be tight and the smaller plow allows me to get threw some tight spots.

I used to plow lots and driveways and never had a problem with it being narrow. I was going to get some wings for the lots just to get them done faster and be able to take them off for the driveways.

If I were in your position , I would pass on the new 7 6 and look around for a slightly used 8 2 for a cheaper price.

Thanks for the advice, spoke with the dealer and he is ordering me an 8'2" Power-V. He already installed the wiring and mount, plow will be here in May.

I'm so use to using a 9'2' - that a 7.6 seems so small to me. But I bet for driveways it would be fine. parking lots?
