Cost of Bulk salt

    I am based in NE Pa. and will be using app 175 to200 tons of salt this year, I am getting it from a local trucker here who go in to NJ (the sea port?) for it I am paying appx $79.00 per ton delivered ( With fuel surcherge added) Tha price has gone up every year, and I need more and more every year, Can any body out there give me some input on what they are paying?? Thanks Karl

    $32.00-47.00 per ton... $32.00 is for straight white rock salt, $40.00 for white rock salt treated with Mag. Chloride liquid (salt is blue), or $47.00 for treated white rock salt/road sand mix..

    American Rock Salt plant is less than 10 miles from my house

    We pay $49 per ton delivered from "With a Grain of Salt". I don't know all the locations but they have them in Springfield Oh, Cleveland Oh, Indianapolis In, and I thought somewhere in Pennsylvania. There website is withagrainofsalt.com

    We pay between $55 and $60.50 a ton depending on quanity ordered.

    WOW:eek: I wish I could get those prices! I'm paying $75. per ton loaded into my spreader and that's a good price around here. There's a place nearby Charging $135.00 per Yard loaded!

    There is usually a minimum required to get bulk rates. Most places are by the trailer load. In other words, about 40tons in 1 pop. :cool:

    coarse salt: 1,431Lbs. dry

    Rule of Thumb:

    Bulk sodium chloride = 72 lbs per square ft. or 1944 lbs per cu yard.

    mrplowdude, where do you order yours from? granite state in portsmouth? I just called there today and was told 54. a ton picked up. Sam c where are you getting that price?
